Imports of Livestock Decreased Twice
In the first nine months of this year Azerbaijan imported 56.1 thousand head of cattle and small cattle. This is about three times less than in the comparable period of 2014 (159.1 thousand head), the State Statistics Committee told Turan.
Since the beginning of the year there has been bought abroad 9,420 head of pedigree cattle, totaling over $ 19 million. A head of breeding stock was purchased for about $ 300 less than in the corresponding period in 2014 ($ 2,320).
Starting this year, the State Customs Committee has become more serious about the declared value of cattle. In January-September 2014, about 85 thousand head of imported cattle and calves were issued in Azerbaijani customs and cost an average of $ 216.7, while this year the figure was $ 473.3.
Sheep are imported at 23 US dollars per head more from this year ($ 89).
According to the SSC, this year at 2.3% increased imports of beef, lamb, pork and goat meat (4,258.4 tons). A kilo of meat is made at the customs office for $ 2 at a price of $ 05.10 retail. ---08B
