Imports of Motor Vehicles Decreased 39.3%
In 2014, Azerbaijan imported 63,368 vehicles, which is 39.3% (41,017) less than in 2013. It is expected that this year the import of vehicles will decrease at least a third.
Last year Azerbaijan tightened restrictions on emissions by motor vehicles into the air through the establishment of higher environmental standards (Euro-4). In addition, more stringent tariffs on day parking were introduced. And this year the government to increase budget revenues has applied higher rates of excise duties on imported cars.
According to the State Customs Committee, in 2014 Azerbaijan were imported 57,615 new and used cars. This is 37,367 (39.3%) less than the previous year.
Purchased abroad were buses - 345 (minus 482), trucks – 5,054 (minus 2,769) and motor vehicles of special purpose - 354 (minus 502). ----08DE

Hundreds of trucks are stuck in the Kazakh port of Kuryk, facing delays for several days while waiting for ferry transport to Azerbaijan, the Azakhstan portal reports lada.kz. According to official statistics from Azerbaijan, bilateral trade in 2023 reached 3.1 billion US dollars. In just the first ten months of 2024, trade volume increased by 17.1% year-on-year, reaching 3.02 billion US dollars, putting the annual trade figure on track to hit a record high.
