Jamil Hasanli: the increase of prices is a robbery of citizens
The increasing cost of energy is a policy that allows for the looting of citizens. In a country with low salaries and pensions, the price increase is a serious blow to people with low income, which is the majority in the country, said the former presidential candidate of the National Council, Jamil Hasanli, at a press conference on Wednesday in the Media Center.
"The state budget for 2014 envisages the increase of prices by 50% for energy in budgetary organizations. It will certainly affect citizens, and will be a serious blow to their pocket," said Hasanli.
Commenting on the statement of Minister of Finance, since 2006, energy prices have not risen, but gas prices have risen by seven times, i.e. by 100%, said Hasanli.
According to the "contract of the century," Azerbaijan gets free associated gas from the Azeri-Chirag gas field. The transportation of every 1,000 cubic meters of gas costs only seven manat. However, 1,000 cubic meters is sold to citizens at 100 manat," said Jamil Hasanli.
According to him, Azerbaijan is one of the most expensive countries in the world. "This is the result of corrupt and monopolistic activities," said Hasanli.
The authorities announced that on January 1, the energy prices and, especially, prices for gasoline will increase in Azerbaijan. However, specific figures have not yet been mentioned. -03C04-
