New Secretary General in TRACECA
The organization responsible for the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) decided on the new General Secretary. It is the representative of Romania, Mircea Ciopraga, whose candidacy was put forward by Turkey.
TRACECA National Secretary is Akif Mustafayev from Azerbaijan. It became known on January 29 at the XI session of the intergovernmental commission of the international structure. According to Mustafayev, Ciopraga will hold that office for two consecutive terms - during the presidency of Turkey and Ukraine. Usually this means chairmanship for at least 3-4 years.
"Ciopraga has extensive experience in business and government activities, and in parliamentary work," said Mustafayev. The election was held on a competitive basis - originally there were 5 candidates. --17D-
