Stagnation in Labor Market
As of November 1, Azerbaijan's economy employed 4.6 million people. Most of the employed population is landowners, who are considered as occupied categories of persons by the government, as well as individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activities (mainly petty trade), without creating a legal entity.
Of the total number of employed people only 1,507,500 people or 32% are hired workers. Compared to the previous month, the situation on the labor market has not changed much. According to of the State Statistics Committee, in the past month the number of hired employees grew by only 100 people.
In the former Soviet Union in terms of population, Azerbaijan is comparable with the Republic of Belarus - 9.5 million people in each country. According to the National Statistics Committee of Belarus, the total employed population reached 4,474,200 people by October 1. Of these, 3,207,000 people, or 71.8% were employees of organizations and enterprises of Belarus, i.e. hired workers. --08B--
