State Lottery Company Transferred under Turkish Company’s Control
Baku/16.01.21/Turan: President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on January 16 to transfer the state lottery company Azerlotereya under the management of YMT Şans B.V. - a subsidiary of Demirören Şans Oyunları Yatırımları A.Ş. (Turkey).
The decision was made in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 437 dated February 9, 1996 "On the transfer of state enterprises (objects) to management on a contractual basis." How the above-mentioned company was selected is unknown.
According to data from open sources, the company Ymt Şans B.V. was registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce under number 81097719 in 2020.
The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to ensure the signing by the Ministry of Economy of an agreement on transferring Azerlotereya OJSC under the management of Ymt Şans B.V. within two months, and approve it.
During this period, the Cabinet of Ministers will also prepare proposals for improving regulations in order to simplify existing requirements and procedures in the field of organizing and conducting lotteries, sports gambling, their taxation, and the purchase of goods (works or services) in this area.
The presidential decree notes that the issue of acceptance and delivery of Azerlotereya OJSC may drag on for 5 months after the signing of an agreement on its transfer to management.
Azerlotereya OJSC was established by the Ministry of Economy in November 2001 and is a state monopoly on organizing and conducting drawing lotteries. In 2019, the revenues of the lottery company reached 60 million manats. During the year, 7 million manats of balance sheet profit were obtained. Ticket distributors are Caspian Tech CJSC, Lotto Yayım LLC, Mobil Loto LLC and Azerpoçt LLC.
Demirören Holding dates back to 1956 and belongs to the Demirören family. The holding is engaged in the field of media, advertising, real estate, tourism, industry, organization of lottery games, and digital technologies. The holding has been represented in the lottery business since 2019. --08D—
