Hundreds flee Kherson as Russia 'attacks civilian targets'
telegraph: Terrified civilians are leaving in their hundreds from the city of Kherson following days of intense shelling by Russian forces.
In the past 24 hours Russian forces have fired 33 rockets at civilian targets in Kherson, Ukraine's military said.
More than 400 people have left since strikes on Christmas Day, with a line of cars forming at the checkpoint leading out of Kherson and others taking to leave by train, the BBC reported.
Thirteen-year-old Nika Selivanova is one of those who has made the heart wrenching decision with her family to leave.
Not sure of where they would end up, they were heading to the western city of Khmelnytskyi for now.
"Before, they [Russian forces] shelled us seven to 10 times a day, now it's 70-80 times, all day long. It's too scary." Nika’s mother Elena told the BBC. "I love Ukraine and my dear city. But we have to go."
