In February, there was a decrease in prices of construction materials by 8.5% in Baku.
The following building materials got cheaper: firebrick (-12.5%), asbestos slate (-20%), metal roofing (-33%), nails on average (-33%), pine boards (-21.7%) and plywood on average (-45 %).
The following ones rose: emulsion for inner and external spaces (+ 12.5%) and plastic pipe profiles 40 mm (+ 41.6%), 100 x 2 mm (+ 30%), 100 x 3 mm (+ 14.3%). However, tube profiles 32 mm got cheaper (-36%).
In January, prices of construction materials remained stable. In December, prices rose by 19.2%. It was the most noticeable jump in prices for 2015. Before that, prices for construction materials even significantly dropped in November - by 8.6%. In October average prices for construction materials in Baku fell by 0.5%, with the following indexes preceding: September (- 0.027%), August (-1.75%), July (+ 0.32%), June (-0.27 %), May (+ 0.45%), and April (- 0.1%).
Experts associate reduction in prices with the stagnation in the construction market, including individual housing. Housing prices have fallen by 2-3 times. Supply exceeds demand. It is expected that lower prices will continue also in connection with the termination of illegal fees at the customs and the liberalization of foreign trade planned by the government.
