Azerbaijan Lost 1,044 Soldiers Over Fourteen Years
In the 2003-2016 period the Azerbaijani Armed Forces lost at least 1,044 soldiers. Of these, 365 were killed by Armenian bullets, or by mine explosions and shells. 679 men died in non-combat conditions. These statistics are led by the Caspian Defense Studies Institute (CDSI), based on the results of monitoring reports of official bodies, the media and social networks on the Internet.
During this period, more than 800 soldiers were wounded or injured.
According to approximate data, since May 1994, when the cease-fire agreement with Armenia came into force, the total losses of the defense and security sector of Azerbaijan amounted to more than 4,000 men.

On February 6, 2025, the Khatai District Court of Baku decided to place journalist Shahnaz Beylyargizi under arrest for three months and 15 days. According to lawyer Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, Beylyarghizi has been charged with the same accusations as the previously arrested journalists and activists in the Toplum TV case. However, Beylyargizi is being prosecuted in a separate case.
