Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Also Talks about Withdrawal from Council of Europe
The resolution entitled "The functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan", adopted on 23 June at the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is another example of biased and unreasonable approach aimed against the official Baku, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated.
In Azerbaijan, there is political stability, economic development, social welfare, free civil society and freedom of speech.
"All the achievements of Azerbaijan aim to ensure the interests of the Azerbaijani people, not the approval of an international structure," said the Foreign Ministry.
The Council of Europe has adopted the anti-Azerbaijan document because Europe does not like the dynamic Muslim country. This is a "clear manifestation of Islamophobia, quickly receiving magnitude in Europe," said the Foreign Ministry.
"The Azerbaijani government has always been open to constructive proposals and recommendations, corresponding to its national interests. Interference in the internal affairs of an independent and sovereign state, any document adopted with a view to insults and pressure on it is absolutely unacceptable," the document continues.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry believes that the biased attitude and demonstration of double standards suggests Baku should seriously think if it really needs to participate in the Council of Europe and the PACE. -0-
