Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Pleased with Statement by Presidents of the U.S., Russia and France
Official Baku is satisfied with the joint statement of the Presidents of the U.S., Russia and France on the Karabakh conflict, adopted at the G8 summit yesterday. This document reflects the position of Azerbaijan, said at today's press briefing, the head of the Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev.
In particular, he said, the joint statement is consonant with the position of Azerbaijan on the unacceptability of the status quo.
He recalled that Azerbaijan insists that the conflict was resolved in relation to the principle of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan that is de-occupation of Azerbaijani territories and the return of internally displaced persons.
"The principle of non-use of force" is also violated by Armenia for this country forcibly seized the territories of Azerbaijan and the occupation continues, which is the cause of instability in the zone of the conflict and a threat to safety.
Abdullayev said that Azerbaijan has taken the updated “Madrid principles” as the basis for the settlement.
Azerbaijan has repeatedly offered to start solving the conflict on the basis of the "road map." However, Armenia refuses it.
In his view, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group must put pressure on Armenia to abandon its destructive policies. -06D-
