U.S. President Joe Biden
Biden Emphasizes Unity In Christmas Speech
As Americans headed into the holiday weekend, President Biden attempted to strike a unifying message in his Christmas speech to the nation that came as he moved into the second half of his term in office, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports from the White House.
“Our politics has gotten so angry, so mean, so partisan, and too often we see each other as enemies, not as neighbors, as Democrats or Republicans, not as fellow Americans. We’ve become too divided,” Biden said in his speech.
In the meantime, he struck an optimistic tone about the state of the nation, saying that among tough moments, “We see bright spots all across the country – the strength, the determination, the resilience that has long defined America.”
Biden wished for the “poison” to be drained from politics in favor of bipartisan cooperation.
In an era of isolation brought on by technology and the pandemic, he encouraged reaching out to connect.
“So, this Christmas, Let’s spread a little kindness.”
