Dialogue with authorities on rights and freedoms continues - US Ambassador
Baku/19.04.22/Turan: The United States continues its dialogue with the Azerbaijani authorities on human rights issues, the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger stated this on Tuesday, answering Turan's question about Washington's steps to improve the state of rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan.
“We are working at all levels with the government of Azerbaijan on human rights, the rule of law and democracy. There is progress in some areas, such as combating human trafficking. The high-level dialogue continues,” the ambassador said.
Speaking about participation in the restoration of the liberated territories, the diplomat noted that American companies are interested in participating in these projects, including mine clearance.
“To participate in restoration projects, it is important to have open tenders. In this case, the US business structures will make their proposals,” the Ambassador noted. Litsenberger confirmed Washington's readiness to maintain a direct dialogue between Baku and Yerevan to find solutions to unresolved issues. “We support any initiatives that contribute to finding peace.
The European Union has already taken important steps in this direction and the United States supports these initiatives,” the ambassador said. -16B-
