Exercises Caucasus-2016 Started in Southern Russia
Strategic command and staff exercises Caucasus-2016 with the participation of approximately 12,500 soldiers began on the territory of the Southern Military District of Russia today. It is planned to test new weapons and equipment during this, the Defense Ministry reported.
‘The Caucasus-2016 exercises will take place at the sites of the Southern Military District, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea from 5 to 10 September,’ the statement says.
Recall that this year it is already the third military exercise conducted by Russia in the Caspian Sea close to the borders of Azerbaijan, as well as in the waters outside the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. In previous exercises Russian ships moved to the coast of Iran and launched medium-range missiles against targets in Syria. -02D-
