Hasanov: Terrorist Threats to Azerbaijani Diplomat Come from Armenian State
The threat of Armenian terrorist organizations to the Azerbaijani embassies and Diaspora is the state policy of Armenia.
This statement on Thursday in an interview with journalists was made by the chief of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov, commenting on incoming threats to the embassies of Azerbaijan in connection with the release of the officer Ramil Safarov.
Hasanov said there were reports of Armenians on the planned attacks against the embassies of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis living abroad.
"Given these risks, we are taking all necessary precautions. However, we have determined that it is not the policy of separate Armenian terrorist organizations or Armenian lobbies. This is a state policy of Armenia," said Hasanov.
He stressed that the Armenians for a long time have been conducting genocide of the Azerbaijanis and the Khojaly genocide is one of the most heinous crimes.
Referring to the case of Ramil Safarov, Hasanov said that he was punished too severely. Hasanov said that for the committed offense in European countries, including Armenia, Safarov would be supposed to receive a maximum 15-year prison sentence. And since Safarov had served more than half of his sentence, he had the right to be released, said Hasanov.
While serving the sentence Safarov demonstrated exemplary behavior, and proved that he is not a security threat either in Azerbaijan or abroad.
The extradition and clemency of Safarov was within the law and either the power in Hungary or the President of Azerbaijan did not allow any mistakes.
"The buzz of the Armenians is unfounded. They pardoned people who had committed more serious crimes. We give a proper response to threats from ASALA, and we will continue to do so. We believe that it is a new anti-Azerbaijani campaign, which will pass," said Hasanov.
Referring to the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, Hasanov said that they are becoming normal. According to him, the strained relations launched by some circles in Iran against Azerbaijan on the eve of the song contest Eurovision 2012 are over. According to Hasanov, the elimination of tension in the bilateral relations has already had an effect.
Both Iran and Azerbaijan said they would continue bilateral and multilateral relations based on friendship, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation, said Hasanov.--0--
