Ilham Aliyev called conditions for "long-term peace" with Armenia
Baku/23.06.23/Turan: President Ilham Aliyev called the conditions for achieving "long-term peace" with Armenia. These are the Armenia's recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the opening of the Zangezur corridor and the withdrawal of Armenian troops from Karabakh.
Speaking at the ceremony of awarding the Battle Banner to one of the military units of the commandos of the Ministry of Defense, Aliyev recalled that in October last year Armenia officially recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, "and last month even noted the parameters of this territory." However, as Aliyev noted, "these statements should also be on paper, and Armenia should sign them." "Only in this case, long-term peace can reign in the South Caucasus," the President said.
He stressed that other important conditions are the opening of the Zangezur corridor and the withdrawal of the armed formations of the Armenian army from the Karabakh region.
Aliyev also noted that "being at strategic heights" provides Azerbaijan with a "strategic advantage."
According to him, Azerbaijan has significantly strengthened its army over the past two and a half years. "If Armenia and the foreign relatives behind it do not understand all these factors, then let them blame themselves," the Azerbaijani President stated.
At the same time, Aliyev noted that during this period, "we were forced to demonstrate our strength to the Armenian side several times." "Firstly, in response to their military provocations. Secondly, we sent them a signal that if they do not behave well, do not respect their signature, then the result for them will be deplorable," Aliyev continued.
At the same time, he added that Azerbaijan prefers a peaceful solution to the problem and is in no hurry to resort to force methods.
"That's why we're still being restrained. We have never allowed haste, there is no need for it. Today, the force is on our side, and time is strengthening our positions, and international law. The international community has already unequivocally recognized Karabakh as an integral part of Azerbaijan. We can wait. I say again, we are not in a hurry," the head of state said.-06B-
