Ilham Aliyev congratulates the World Azerbaijanis
In connection with the International Day of Solidarity of the World Azerbaijanis, President Ilham Aliyev made a traditional appeal. He expressed satisfaction that the active work of Diaspora organizations gave its fruits, what allowed to negate the "insidious attempts" to tarnish Azerbaijan
He further stated the active creative work in a country that has become a symbol of tolerance, intercultural dialogue and cultural cooperation. Aliyev and that Azerbaijan is an important factor in Europe's energy security and will take in 2015 the first European game.
"A brief history of the country's independence proved that there is no alternative to the strategic line of our state ideology of Azerbaijanism," said Aliyev.
In conclusion, he congratulated all Azerbaijanis with the International Day of Solidarity and wishes them success and good luck.
* Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis is timed to the events of December 31, 1989, when activists of the Popular Front began to demolish the state border between Azerbaijan and Iran. These actions were dictated by the national liberation movement, which symbolized the desire for reunification of North Azerbaijan (Azerbaijan SSR) and South Azerbaijan (North Iran.) Azerbaijan was divided into North and South as a result of Russian-Persian wars in the 18th century.
Currently in Iran live at least 30 million ethnic Azerbaijanis – by three times more than in the Azerbaijan Respublic.-05D-
