Ilham Aliyev: Nakhchivan to Be Provided with 100% Renewable Energy
Baku / 17.05.18 / Turan: "The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is a rapidly developing republic in all economic indicators. Over the past 15 years, the GDP of NAR has increased 10-fold. This, in my opinion, is a record figure in the world. "
This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev in his speech at the opening of the new building of the Institute of Teachers in NAR on May 16. According to him, Nakhchivan has great strategic significance and plays a special role in the issue of Azerbaijan's security and development.
"The plans of our enemies included also the occupation of Nakhchivan. Armed attacks were organized, but the Nakhchivans gave a fitting rebuff by putting the Armenians in their place," the President said.
The President also spoke about infrastructure projects, noting that gasification in Nakhchivan is 100%.
"Overall, the gasification of the whole of Azerbaijan was carried out at 93-94%, and it is planned to increase it to 95%. However, Nakhchivan has been completely gasified for more than 10 years". According to him, 8 power stations were built over the past 8 years, and Ordubad HPP with a capacity of 36 megawatts is under construction. After its launch, Nakhchivan will provide itself with 100% renewable energy. On a global scale, this is a unique case. Today Nakhchivan can export its electricity. "I am glad that a solar power station and a hydroelectric power station are being built; all this creates a strong electric power supply that will ensure the industrial potential of Nakhchivan," the head of state said. -0-
