Leyla Yunus Calls on European Parliament to Achieve Release of Political Prisoners in Azerbaijan
The human rights activist Leyla Yunus spoke at the November 28 hearing in the European Parliament, devoted to Azerbaijan. She focused attention on human rights violations and the recent arrests of activists upon the so-called Nardaran case.
Yunus presented to the European Parliament a list of 160 political prisoners and urged the deputies to active struggle for their liberation. Turan was told by the head of the Public Alliance Azerbaijan without Political Prisoners Oktay Gulaliyev.
In turn, Leyla Yunus’s husband, Arif Yunus spoke on the Islamic factor in Azerbaijan.
‘Despite the fact that the spouses Yunus have serious health problems, they bring to the world community the truth about the situation of human rights and political prisoners in Azerbaijan. Their meetings with representatives of international organizations continue,’ said Gulaliyev. -06D-
