Baku/19.03.18/Turan: A regular conference of OPEC and non-OPEC member countries may take place in Baku. This issue was discussed at the meeting of the Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and the OPEC Secretary General Muhammad Barkindo, who is visiting Baku.
According to the ministry, the meeting discussed issues of the current situation in the global oil industry, as well as cooperation in the framework of OPEC +.
The OPEC Secretary General noted Azerbaijan's leading role in fulfilling the obligations related to the reduction of oil production in order to stabilize the price of oil in the world oil market.
He stressed the importance of continuing cooperation even after ensuring the interests of producers and consumers. He also spoke about the platform of cooperation with various countries.
Parviz Shahbazov spoke about the success of the OPEC and non-OPEC format, in which Azerbaijan took an active part, in order to prevent the fall in oil prices. He noted that the restoration of stability in the oil market is the result of this cooperation.
"Azerbaijan is committed to its commitments and is ready to participate and contribute to the future discussions of the countries that have joined the OPEC initiative," the Minister said.
At the meeting it was proposed to hold the next OPEC conference in Baku.
The OPEC Secretary General arrived in Baku the day before. He was received by President Ilham Aliyev. -0----
