PACE Rejected Candidates to European Court from Azerbaijan
The Committee on the election of judges of the European Court of Human Rights rejected the candidacies proposed by Azerbaijan.
As the press service of the Council of Europe reported, the Committee meeting was held in Paris on 9 and 10 June. It considered candidates for judges proposed by Azerbaijan, Armenia, Latvia, Luxembourg and Monaco.
With the exception of Azerbaijan, all these countries submitted one candidate each.
In particular, rejected were the candidacies of the representative of the Government of Azerbaijan in the European Court Chingiz Askerov, Baku Appeal Court judge Aygun Abdullayeva and the Baku Administrative-Economic Court N 1 judge Vusala Bakhyshova.
"The Committee did not recognize them sufficiently qualified for the activities of the ECHR," the statement said.
According to the procedures, the Azerbaijani government has to submit new candidates now.
Earlier Khanlar Hajiyev was appointed the ECHR judge from Azerbaijan for two terms. -06D--
