R. Cekuta: Aliyev’s visit to the United States is an important turning point
The visit of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the United States was an important turning point in bilateral relations, said the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta in an interview with "Voice of America". At the same time, he praised the ratification of the amendments to the Conference of Azerbaijan on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.
During his visit to Washington, safety issues in the region and economic cooperation were discussed. The US Secretary of State expressed support for the "Southern Gas Corridor" and the steps of Azerbaijan to diversify its economy.
The ambassador said that issues of human rights, democracy and the rule of law were also discussed. The US welcomes steps of Azerbaijan in recent years in this area. However, this matter should not be limited, the ambassador said.
"This is an important turning point where the parties analyze the steps that have been so far, and discuss further actions, considered issues important from a regional perspective," said the ambassador. -06D-

Today, the trial of paralyzed activist Famil Khalilov continued at the Baku Serious Crimes Court. During the session, he stated that he is a first-group disabled person but still has not been assigned a social worker for assistance. The judge noted that while the law does not require a social worker to be assigned to an inmate, he would appeal to the leadership of the pretrial detention facility "on humanitarian grounds."
