"There will be no OSCE Minsk Group anymore" - I.Aliyev
Baku/16.06.22/Turan: The OSCE Minsk Group, mandated to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, has achieved no results in the implementation of this mission over its 28 years of its activity. And now, after Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity on its own, its activities are no longer needed. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in his speech at the IX Global Baku Forum today.
To his thinking, the impossibility of a meeting of the three co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, and especially after the Russian-Ukrainian war, is obvious.
"We have already received messages that the institution of the Minsk Group will no longer function," the President noted.
Therefore, Aliyev continued, any speculation about the Minsk Group in Armenia or any other country is meaningless.
"The Madrid Principles," developed by the Minsk Group to resolve the conflict, were implemented by Azerbaijan on its own. "Now we have to think about how to normalize relations with Armenia and sign a peace agreement," he said.
Voicing his satisfaction that the Armenian government had accepted the five basic principles proposed by Azerbaijan for normalization, Aliyev stressed the need for "practical steps in this direction."
At the same time, Aliyev emphasized that Armenia must fulfill all items of the tripartite statement of November 10, 2020, including the opening of communications in the region. -06В-
