Three members of the Saturday protests were sentenced to administrative arrest
Three protesters that supported the residents of Ismayilli at the rally in Baku were sentenced to administrative arrest for a period of 13 to 15 days. For taking part in the unauthorized protest rally the blogger Emin Milli was sentenced to 15 days in jail and the young activists of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Abulfaz Gurbanli and Turkel Azerturk were sentenced to 13 days. Another 15 people were subjected to administrative fines.
Fines of 2,000 manats (about $ 2,500) are to be paid by the deputy chairman of PFPA Gozel Bayramli and an activist of the party Kamala Bananyarly. 2,500 manats (about $ 3,200) will be paid by the youth activist of NIDA (Shout) Turgut Gambar. All the three people were named organizers of the rally.
Another 12 protesters were fined at AZN 300 (about $ 380) to 600 manats (about $ 760). Other detainees, which are about 60 people, were released on the outskirts of the city or spent about 4-5 hours in police stations.
The human rights organization Human Rights House also condemned the arrests of protesters in the capital of Azerbaijan, and is waiting for the reaction of PACE, OSCE, and the Council of Europe Commissioner and the Rapporteurs on freedom of association and assembly in connection with the arrests of human rights defenders and journalists in Baku. -06B-
