Turning Media into Instrument of Internal Struggle Unacceptable - Ilham Aliyev
Baku /17.10.19 / Turan: Today, some people in power may also oppose reforms, because reforms affect their personal interests. This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev on October 16 at a meeting on the results of the country's socio-economic development for 9 months of 2019.
"These people do their best to create obstacles to our work," Aliyev said. "They denigrate reform-minded cadres with new thinking, using the press for this," the President added.
Media, Aliyev emphasized, has turned into an instrument of internal struggle. "This is intolerable. Now I do not want to go deep. However, I will say: this is intolerable when some members of the government blackmail others, trying to tarnish them. They cast a shadow on the reforms that they carry out on behalf of the President. If someone believes that we should put up with this, then he is mistaken. There is no alternative to reform. Who agrees, of course, will work. However, those who are gradually trying to interfere with us will have to leave us," Aliyev said.
He noted that the country's leadership has the political will to turn the country into a modern state, rapidly equalizing and committed to transparency. "No one can stop us from doing this," Aliyev said. However, the head of state did not give specific names. -03d-
