US Ambassador Enjoys Sheki Cuisine
The US Ambassador Robert Cekuta started a study tour to the Sheki region.
He got acquainted with the historical sites and spoke with reporters at the Palace of Sheki Khans, the regional correspondent of Turan reported.
The Ambassador praised the well-known Sheki cuisine, tasting the traditional piti course (lamb cooked in a clay pot with chestnuts and dried fruit.)
The Ambassador noted the uniqueness of Sheki, located on the Great Silk Road. This fact played an important role in the development of Sheki as a center of culture and handicraft.
The Ambassador also expressed support for the efforts of Azerbaijan to restore the Silk Road as a transport corridor between Europe and Asia.
Asked to comment on the European Parliament resolution on Azerbaijan, the Ambassador said that as a diplomatic representative of the United States he cannot comment on it. However, the US continues to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the name of building a strong democratic Azerbaijan. -33C-
