What does Elmar Mammadyarov speak with the Iranian diplomat?
On Friday, at the meeting of Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, Seyid Abbas Arakchy, discussed topical issues of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations and regional issues. The theme of the talks became the coming summit of Non-Aligned Movement to be held in Tehran next week, according to the press service of Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov noted the importance of relations between the two countries, and said that these ties influence the overall situation in the region.
Mammadyarov also said that the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani territories has a negative impact on the situation in the region. He stressed the importance of the impact of international organizations and states to Armenia in order to deny the aggressive policy. Mammadyarov told about the importance of respect of all countries, including Armenia, the United Nations and its resolutions. Mammadyarov particularly focused on the fate of the arrested in Iran, young Azerbaijani poets Farid Hussein and Shahriyar Hajizadeh.
He said that the issue caused a serious concern of the Azerbaijani people and state. Azerbaijani Minister looked forward to a positive resolution of this issue.
Arakchy for his part, noted the importance of attached by his country to the relations with Azerbaijan. According to him, Iran respects the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. On Friday Arakchy was also received by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Khalaf Khalafov. Khalafov praised interview of Arakchy to media of his country before his visit to Azerbaijan. At the same time, he noted the necessity of taking concrete steps to contribute to the development of bilateral relations. Khalafov expressed the view that the relationship between the two countries are based on mutual respect and esteem, not interfering in the internal affairs of each other, support each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, "this strategic course was laid out by Heydar Aliyev."
Khalafov also expressed sorrow for the victims of the Azerbaijani people after the recent earthquake in Iran. Arakchy expressed his appreciation for Azerbaijan's humanitarian aid to victims of the earthquake. Arakchy stated the interest of his country in the development of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, and noted that Iran supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and recognizes Armenia as an aggressor.

Armenia is not against the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, but does not consider it appropriate to discuss this issue now. "In the context of peace, we consider it possible to make a decision on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. When peace is an established fact, the existence of such a format may raise questions," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference today. On August 31, Azerbaijan observes a "day of silence" before the Sunday’s early parliamentary elections for the unicameral Milli Majlis. All electoral campaigning is prohibited 24 hours before the voting. The early elections were initiated by the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party. On August 30, at approximately 22:55, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant in Metsamor was disconnected from the country's power grid, as reported by the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. The shutdown was caused by a lightning strike, which triggered the plant's safety systems to switch the station to a safe shutdown mode. Currently, the plant's staff is working on restarting the facility.
