Yerevan's attempts to change the format of negotiations are unacceptable - Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Baku/28.07.20/Turan: Armenia, making military provocations, turning civilians into targets, violating international humanitarian law, daily violating the ceasefire, is directly responsible for the escalation of tensions in the region. Therefore, it has no right to call for an end to provocations, said the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva, commenting on the statement of the head of the Armenian government Nikol Pashinyan on the need to change the format of the negotiation process to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
The military provocation of Armenia on July 12 in the Tovuz direction of the international border between the two countries was a pre-planned act. All responsibility for this rests with the military-political leadership of Armenia, Abdullayeva stressed.
The policy of the Armenian leadership aimed at changing the format and essence of the negotiation process openly demonstrates that Yerevan seeks to consolidate the status quo and the consequences of the occupation. However, Armenia’s attempts to put forward some conditions for negotiations and change their format are inadmissible.
“We emphasize once again that the existing status quo in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan is not acceptable, because it creates serious threats to regional peace and security.
To change the status quo, the troops of Armenia, in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions, must leave all the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, Abdullayeva said. -06D-
