18 people participate in a hunger strike demanding freedom for Tofig Yagublu and Bakhtiyar Hajiyev
Baku/17.01.23/Turan: Tofig Yagublu, who is serving an administrative arrest, has been on a hunger strike for the 13th day. On January 17, at the Binagadi Medical Center, where Yagublu was taken from the isolation ward, his daughter Nigar Hazi and doctor Adyl Geybulla visited him. “The health of Tofig Yagublu is stable. Hemodynamic parameters are stable. The pressure is 120/80, the saturation is normal, the pulse is 90 beats. We gave him an infusion, because due to the hunger strike, the body lacks electrolytes,” Geybulla told Turan.
In turn, Yagublu's wife continues her hunger strike for 11 days in solidarity with her husband. “Despite serious health problems, I will continue the hunger strike with him,” Maya Yagublu said. The hunger strike of solidarity with Tofig Yagublu and public activists Bakhtiyar Hajiyev continues in the headquarters of the Musavat party and Agdash region.
On January 17, three activists stopped the hunger strike, at the same time, activists of the Sabirabad district organization of the PFPA Sahib Rustamli and Adil Baba joined her.
Thus, on January 17, 11 people participated in the hunger strike in Musavat, and all of them are members of the PFPA. Three more PFPA members and one public activist are on hunger strike in Aghdash.
*Yagublu was detained on December 23 at a peaceful protest in defense of activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev. On the same day, the court arrested him for 30 days on charges of insubordination to the police. Since January 5, after Yagublu's appeal against his arrest was rejected, he went on a hunger strike.
** Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days.
On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release from custody. On the evening of December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from members of the public and family members. However, on January 9, Hajiyev resumed his hunger strike, after the appeal court once again rejected his arrest complaint. -03B06-
