Afghan Sadigov is on hunger strike for 50 days
Baku/21.12.20/Turan: The founder of the Azel TV online publication Afgan Sadigov has been on a hunger strike for the 50th day.
He started having seizures, he often loses consciousness, cannot walk, and suffers from severe pains in the joints, said his wife Sevinj Sadigova.
Currently, he is placed in the Medical Institution of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
“Afgan has given up food and water intake and artificial nutrition. The condition is extremely serious, we can lose it at any moment,” said Sadigova.
According to her, A. Sadigov's appeal will be considered at 10.30 am on December 25.
“It is not known whether he will live to December 25. I appeal to the President of Azerbaijan, his assistant Hikmet Hajiyev. I ask you to convey to the head of state that an innocent person who is not involved in any crimes is dying in a prison hospital. If Afgan dies from this, there will be no benefit to the state, or the authorities, or officials,” Sadigova said.
* The head of Azel.TV, Afgan Sadigov, was arrested on charges of extortion through threats in May this year. On November 3, the court sentenced him to seven years in prison. Since November 4, he went on a hunger strike in protest, considering the sentence unfair.
