Azerbaijan will reduce by 35% greenhouse gas emissions
The conference held in the University of ADA on Friday jointly with the Embassy of France was on the problem of climate change and the role of government and civil society in their decision. The university rector Hafiz Pashayev noted that the 21st Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention on Climate Change will be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December. Therefore, this meeting is a preparation for the Paris Forum.
According to the ambassador of France in Baku, Pascal Monnier, inaction in relation to climate change may lead to the fact that by the end of this century, the temperature of the planet will increase by six degrees. Even rich flora and fauna of Azerbaijan may suffer from the climate change.
According to the ambassador, the new challenges of global warming require the joint action of the international community to counter this process. He recalled that in 2010 in Hong Kong was established Global Green Fund, in which donations from 22 countries have already totaled $10 billion, a tenth of which contributed France.
In turn, the head of the Ministry of Environment, Huseyn Bagirov said that Azerbaijan had committed itself to reduce by 35% the emission of greenhouse gases until 2030 year.
During the conference, discussions were held on ways to combat climate changes.-06D—

For Elshan Hasanov, a 46-year-old man with severe hearing impairment (fourth-degree), what should have been a straightforward process to receive government-provided hearing aids has turned into a bureaucratic nightmare involving three healthcare agencies. As a result, Hasanov is forced to pay nearly 60 manats ($35) several times a year for what used to be a free service—a cost he says is untenable on his modest disability pension.
