Azerbaijani communists and sosialists celebrate victory day in Baku together
On the Victory Day, May 9, 2015, activists of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan (CPA) and the Progressive Socialist Party of Azerbaijan (PSPA) gathered in Baku, at the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, the Azerbaijani scout Mehdi Huseynzadeh (legendary Mikhailo, who fought against the Nazis in the occupied Italy and Yugoslavia and died a hero's death). They celebrated the 70th anniversary of the victory.
They laid flowers at the monument to the legendary Soviet intelligence officer. Presentations were made by the Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the CPA Gyulnisa Maximova and the PSPA chairman Rustam Shahsuvarov. November 8 is celebrated as Victory Day in Azerbaijan. In 2020, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity through a 44-day war and a one-day military operation in 2023. Although a ceasefire declaration was signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan has yet to be signed, even four years later.
