Case against Natig Kerimov Sent to Court

The criminal case against the head of the Council of Elders of the village of Nardaran Natig Kerimov, accused of treason, came into production of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

The preparatory session is scheduled for 10 January, chaired by Judge Eldar Ismayilov.

Kerimov will stand trial together with Inglab Ahadov, former deputy chairman of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA), who is also charged with treason.

Kerimov was arrested in early January last year. On January 19, he was released under house arrest.

Earlier, on January 26 in Nardaran a special operation was carried out, as a result of which 6 people were killed, including two policemen. In connection with the events 90 people were arrested in Nardaran. Some of them were sentenced to terms ranging from 1.5 to 6.5 years of imprisonment on charges of illegal possession of weapons. The trials of two other groups of defendants, including the leader of the movement Muslim Unity Taleh Bagirzadeh and his assistant Elchin Gasimov, are continued.

Ahadov was arrested in the Salyan region on January 27, 2015. -06D--
