Consideration of the appeal of Khadija Ismailovais postponed for November 25
Consideration of the appeal of the journalist Khadija Ismayilova was postponed for 25 December. This decision received today the Baku Appeal Court in the absence of her lawyers for valid reasons.
Ismayilova was placed in the "Aquarium" and could not address her supporters through it. She only showed a sheet of paper on which was written that juvenile detainees from the cameras 263 and 264 are placed in solitary confinement.
When the trial began Ismayilova, addressing the judge said her lawyers had notified the court in advance of the absence and the need for today's trial. However, the judge Ilgar Murguzov did not pay attention to it, and scheduled the next hearing for 25 December.
On 1 September the Baku Serious Crimes Court sentenced a famous investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova to 7.5 years in prison, found her guilty of embezzling, illegal business, tax evasion and abuse of office. At the same time, it was justified under the Article 125 (bringing to suicide.)
Local and international human rights organizations believe that criminal charges are far-fetched and Ismayilova was convicted because of her journalistic investigations of corruption in the higher echelons of power.–06С--
