Council of Europe and European Union Give Books to Justice Academy
Books of 20 items on the application of the provisions of the European Convention of Human Rights and the case law of the Strasbourg Court today were given a gift to the Academy of Justice. This happened in the framework of the project implemented by the Council of Europe and the European Union.
The project is part of the Action Plan of cooperation between the Council of Europe and Azerbaijan in the period 2014-2016.
According to the Vice-rector of the Academy Elchin Khalafov, the presented literature provides valuable knowledge on the application of European case law on individual articles of the European Convention for comments. These books will be used not only in the professional development of judges and prosecutors, but also will be available to other lawyers, students of law faculties of universities.
The head of the Baku office of the Council of Europe Dragana Filipovic noted the successful implementation of the project in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the Academy of Justice, and the Judicial-Legal Council.
Speaking about the importance of applying the provisions of the European Convention, she emphasized that without reforms in the spheres of justice and the judicial system it is not possible to provide successful economic transformation.
The main objective of the current project in the training of prosecutors and judges is to enforce the provisions of the European Convention. 35 coaches who now conduct trainings themselves were trained in the framework of the project.
The possibility of improving professional knowledge will be used by 277 members of the Bar and 87 judges.
The Head of Operations of the EU mission in Baku Jeroen Wiliems stressed that this project is the dissemination of European values in Azerbaijan.
In conclusion, the event also hosted the presentation of a well-known expert on European law, Jean-Paul Jean, "the European Commission to improve the effectiveness of fair justice: scientific and practical value," translated into Azerbaijani by the judge of the Yasamal District Court Ramin Gurbanov. -06D-
