Demolition of Houses against Residents’ Will Started in Soviet Street Residential Area
Baku /17.01.20 / Turan: On January 17, the demolition of several dilapidated houses in the area of the former Soviet Street, where 24 families have lived to this day, has resumed.
According to the lawyer of these families, Javad Javadov, the demolition is carried out against the will of the residents and without a court order.
“Cases of many families are in the courts. The people do not agree with the proposed compensation. Without a court decision, people were thrown into the street and the houses began to be demolished. Some of the property remained in the destroyed houses. The demolition is led by the head of the supervisory department of the Baku City Hall Zulfali Ismayilov,” the lawyer said.
On the eve of this, the supply of water and electricity to these houses was stopped, but then the utility services were restored and the people were promised that representatives of the city government would come to meet them in the morning. However, instead, on January 17, bulldozers were driven here.
Note that we are talking about several houses located above the Taza Pir mosque.
Police forces were brought into the territory and did not allow the residents to block the road in protest.
It was not possible to get comments from the Baku Executive Power. –21B-
