Emigrant from Azerbaijan committed suicide in Germany
Baku/15.08.19/Turan: An Azerbaijani named Huseyn, who arrived in Germany on an Italian visa, cut both his hands in protest against deportation, "Meydan TV" was told by Alovsat Aliyev, the head of the Integration Center "Legat" operating in Germany.
Huseyn, who arrived in Germany two months ago (his name is not yet known), was placed in the city of Ibbenburen. Under the Dublin Agreement, he was subject to deportation to Italy.
Not wishing to return, the Azerbaijani cut his hands on August 15 when police officers came for him. He has been hospitalized.
Huseyn was born in the Kelbajar region of Azerbaijan; he is married, and has two young children.
According to the Legat center, in the first half of 2019, 999 Azerbaijani citizens applied for asylum in Germany by contacting the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. Of these, 706 people applied for the first time, 293 - again.
Over the same period, 1,400 decisions were made on applications for refugee status. Forty-six people received refugee status, 74 people received temporary residence permits, and other 768 were refused refugee status.
Recently, Azerbaijani Humay Mammadova committed suicide due to the threat of deportation. She left a 9-year-old daughter. Two more women tried to commit suicide, but they were rescued.
According to the Leqat Center, over the past three months, seven people have taken over themselves in connection with the deportation.
Many migrants become victims of unscrupulous travel agencies that promise to grant status to live in Europe.
On June 18 last year, 51 Azerbaijanis were deported from Germany. -06D-
