Faramaz Allahverdiyev Went on Hunger Strike in Jail
Detained in the Baku prison activist Faramaz Allahverdiyev on August 22 began a hunger strike to protest his sentence. Turan was told by the brother of the arrested, Qurban Allahverdiyev.
Recall that the Nizami District Court on August 22, recognizing Allahverdiyev guilty of inciting riots and illegal crossing of the state border, sentenced him to 4.5 years in prison.
In particular, Allahverdiyev was incriminated with calling people to riot (Article 220.2 of the Criminal Code) during the Great People's Day action promoted in the social network Facebook (March 11, 2011) and with illegal crossing of the Turkish border. Allahverdiyev denied the allegations, calling them fabricated.
Brother of the convicted urged local and international organizations to protect the rights of Allahverdiev and hire an independent counsel to him, because his trial lawyer is defending the state.
In addition, the brother of Allahverdiyev complained of the difficult financial situation of the family, which has no means not only to hire a lawyer, but also to pay the housing rent.
F. Allahverdiev himself is on hunger strike to demand his release from prison. He believes that he is haunted for the articles featured on social networks, "Fate of the Azerbaijani oil shipped to Italy" and "Where are the pine trees imported from Russia?" In these articles, he was investigating corruption in high places.
He also published material in the newspapers Nota Bene, Milletim, etc. Allahverdiyev was the subject of complaints of defamation, and was twice imprisoned for it. He is known for his extreme methods of protest in prison, as stitching the mouth, swallowing iron spoons, etc.-06D-

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
