Fatima Movlanly Not Released from Azerbaijan Abroad
Baku / 07.05.18 / Turan: The public activist Fatima Movlanly was not released from Azerbaijan to Georgia on May 7 through the border crossing point Synyg Korpu.
As Movlanly told Turan, at the border checkpoint she was told that the ban on her leaving the country was imposed by the Central Department for Combating Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She was going to Georgia for the treatment of a liver disease.
Movlanly contacted the aforementioned department of the Interior Ministry and was told that she should return to Baku and come to this department on May 8 to give evidence to the investigator, after which the ban would be lifted.
The activist called the restriction of her rights unreasonable, since there is no criminal case against her.
After the participation of Movlanly at the opposition rally on March 31, the media reported on her disappearance. On April 5, she distributed a video message, in which she said she was with a friend because of the friend's poor health all this time.
However, later on April 14 the girl stated she had been held for five days in the basement of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in connection with her participation in the "Let's Tell about the Dictator" action.
According to the activist, she was required to confess about her "immoral activity" and testify against activists of the Popular Front Party. -03B06--
