Flood victims complain to President
Flood victims in 2010, residents of Sabirabad, Saatli, Imishli and Salyan districts have launched a campaign of collecting signatures on a petition to the President of the country.
Population is dissatisfied with the results of government measures to address the effects of floods and intends to seek solutions to problems.
Group of veterans, families of martyrs and the poor of Imishli (42 signatures) sent a letter to President Ilham Aliyev to provide assistance to flood victims.
The letter noted that during the elimination flood, issue of compensation and construction of houses accompanied by corruption and injustice.
"30 months, we appeal to all possible state institutions and have pestered the courts, but nobody hears us except the Kura Staff Civil Society," the statement says.
Noting that the President allocated funds, as well as took a number of steps for us, we should say it is not clear where the money was spent, as well as the AZN 50 mln allocated on March 29, 2012.
"We ask you to inquire to our problems and take the necessary steps to help us. Do not throw us with the indifferent and corrupt officials!" says the letter in conclusion.
As you know, during the flood of 2010, caused by the mismanagement of the water balance of the river Kura, was flooded more than 100 hectares of land and more than 20 thousand homes. By the decisions of the government and the President a total of 460 million manat was allotted to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. However, many problems have not been solved. The work to eliminate the effects of the disaster is associated with high corruption, embezzlement and arbitrary officials. All the complaints have never yielded positive results. -0-
