Another man involved in the fire in a 16-storey building in the Binagadi district of Baku on May 19 has been arrested. Within the framework of the criminal case launched under article 225.2 (violation of fire safety requirements) and article 308.2 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, Ghazanfar Novruzov, who worked the First Deputy Head of the Executive Power of the Binagadi district of Baku in 2012-2013, was held accountable. Concerning him, the preventive measure is arrest for 4 months. This is stated jointly by the Prosecutor General, the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.
In addition, three people were detained in connection with the fire that occurred in a 9-storey building on Zikh Highway in the Khatai district of Baku on 10 April this year.
Among them there are Fareed Sadigov, the actual head of the company TNH, which carried out the building facing with polyurethane, the director of this company Zaur Ashrafov and his deputy for the construction works Nusrat Mukhtarov. They are involved as accused under articles 225.2 and 308.2 of the Criminal Code.
The court decision in their regard is a preventive measure in the form of four-month arrest.
Interestingly, after the fire at Zikh Highway, when three people were injured, the investigation was conducted in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and no one has been brought to justice.
The arrests followed only after the investigation into the two fires were consolidated into a single proceeding in the Investigation Department on Grave Crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office.
Earlier, on May 19 on the case of the fire in a 16-storey building in the Binagadi district there was arrested Miryusif Makhmudov, whose company Global Construction did the facing work in the burned house. On May 21 it became known about the arrests of the CEO of the manufacturer of the facing material Global Stone Ugur Bashirov, Deputy Chairman of Global Construction Alekper Askerov, head of the economic department of the executive branch of the Binagadi district of Baku Adalat Radjabov, who in 2012-2013 served as head of the housing and utilities association of the area. The head of housing and utlities operational site №72 of the Binagadi district of Baku Nizami Orujov was also arrested.
Recall that the fire in the Binagadi district of Baku killed 15 people on May 19, while 65 others were poisoned by carbon monoxide or injured. -06D--

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
