Gamet Suleymanov: DHS detained religious radicals

People arrested in April-May this year by DHS are members of radical religious groups, Turan was told by the Abubakr mosque's imam, Gamet Suleymanov.

According to him, in Azerbaijan, these groups have supporters, but they are weak and cannot take effective action. Recall that the DHS has reported the arrest of 42 people in the territory of Azerbaijan, who prepared a series of bombings in public places, including the contest "Eurovision".

"They cannot be active until they receive support from outside," said Suleymanov.

Radical Islamic centers operate in Europe and the Middle East.

At the same time, they are closely in contact with the North Caucasian Center "Caucasus Emirate", which took over the function of headquarters for radical elements in the former Soviet space.

Radical religious groups use the site of the center and take its position as a guide to action. They aim to provide impact on young people and inspire terrorist activities.

"The worst part is that all this is concealed with religion," said Suleymanov.

Referring to his public activities, Gamet Suleymanov recalled that after the attack in the Abubakr mosque in August 2008, the mosque and its community limited their activities. As you know, during the terrorist attack two people were killed and 30 wounded. The community has repeatedly appealed to the appropriate authorities to resume their activities, but attempts to achieve this have failed so far. -05B04-
