Ilkin Suleymanov faces charges unrelated to attempt on F.Mustafa's life
Baku/06.04.23/Turan: Ilkin Suleymanov, mentioned in the media as being detained on suspicion of the assassination attempt on MP Fazil Mustafa, has been charged with drug trafficking. This was reported to Turan by I. Suleymanov Elnur Suleymanov.
According to the man, his nephew was detained on 2 April.
"Websites wrote that six people were detained on the attempted murder of Fazil Mustafa, and Ilkin was mentioned among the accomplices," Suleymanov said.
According to him, I. Suleymanov could not have been at the house of deputy Mustafa in Zabrat settlement at the time of the assassination attempt, as there are records from surveillance cameras indicating that he had been in the village of Khojasan shortly before.
According to Suleymanov, the time difference is small - about 45 minutes, and during this time his nephew would not have had time to arrive in Zabrat.
E.Suleymanov said that only three days later the family was informed that I.Suleymanov was detained in a remand cell of the Narimanov police, and that the Binagadi police were handling the case.
The appointed lawyer said that I. Suleymanov was charged under Article 234.4.1 (drug trafficking) and Article 234.4.3 (drug trafficking in large quantities) of the Criminal Code.
Suleymanov claimed the charges were false and his nephew had nothing to do with drugs.
"Ilkin is being persecuted because he is a believer. He and many believers were charged with drug-related charges," said the uncle of the detainee.
In turn, lawyer Zibeyda Sadygova tried in vain for two days to find out the place of detention of I. Suleymanov, despite the calls to "102" service of the Interior Ministry and "916" of the Office of the Ombudsman.
It was only last night that she managed to find out that I. Suleymanov was being held in the Narimanov police station because the Binagadi police station was being renovated.
The Interior Ministry press office confirmed that there was a criminal case against I. Suleymanov. "Due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot provide additional information," said Elshad Hajiyev, head of the Interior Ministry's press service department. -21В-
