The number of religious communities registered in Azerbaijan, reached 749, stated the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations (SCWRS) of Azerbaijan. In 2016, 101 Muslim and four non-Muslim communities, press release reads. So far 721 Islamic and 28 non-Muslim communities were registered by state. During search and operational activities, on January 30 at 11:20, 16.4 kg of drugs were discovered and seized in the area of the "Geytapa" border post, located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border. According to the Azerbaijan Border Service, this prevented an attempt to smuggle into Azerbaijan 11.3 kg of marijuana, 5.1 kg of opium, and 1,990 methadone M-40 pills from Iran.
