In Iran are arrested the citizens of Azerbaijan, members of the church "Word of Life"
In Iran have been arrested three citizens of Azerbaijan - the members of the church "Word of Life" - Yusif Farkhadov, Eldar Gurbanov and Bahram Nasibov, said in an interview with "Voice of America" Farhadov Jeyhun’s brother. According to him, the arrested were invited by friends to Tehran. They were detained on June 24 during a ceremony of engagement by employees of the Iranian security services. Only a week later they were given the opportunity to call home. "Nobody was interested in them, and they have not been interrogated," said Farhadov. He does not know why his brother with friends was detained, but believes that this may be due to their Christian faith.
All three are kept in solitary confinement, but are not provided with a lawyer, and do not even know what they are accused of. "Their friends appealed to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry statement. Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed our embassy in Tehran. Embassy sent a note to the Iranian Foreign Ministry. Measures are being taken to establish the content of their site. Embassy officials want to meet with them, but the security service did not confirm that the citizens of Azerbaijan are contained there," Farhadov told Turan agency.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has not commented on the situation. The State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations said that the church "Word of Life" has a state registration in Azerbaijan. -03D-
