Judicial Council Punishes Judges
The Judicial Council dismissed the judge of the court of the Nizami district of Ganja Mahir Niftaliyev and transferred him to another job. This decision was made because of the violation by the judge of the requirements of legislation and the creation of conditions for corruption, according to the Council report.
In addition, the judge of the Sumgayit Court of Appeal Sayad Gafarli was reprimanded. Two other judges of the same court, Elman Rahimov and Latifa Mammadova, were warned.
The same “punishment” was subjected to the judge of the Baku Court of Appeal Ismail Veliyev, the judge of the Masalli district court Anar Almammadov, and the judge of the court of Imishli Ulvi Ganbarov.
During the meeting it was noted that the number of appeals to the court on civil cases increased by 45% in 2016 and exceeded 470,000, which is 20 times more than in 2000, when the current court system started operation.
In 2016 the powers of six judges were canceled for creating conditions for corruption. Twelve judges were brought to disciplinary responsibility, and two people were dismissed from their posts. -0-
