Baku/06.01.23/Turan: More than 43 kg of various drugs have been seized on the Iranian-Azerbaijani border during the past day, the State Border Service's press service reported.

The report says that on January 5, about 10 am near Birinji Shahsevan village of Beylagan region two unknown persons crossed the state border from the direction of Iran. After warning shots were fired by the border guard, they fled back.

On the spot, the border guards found two packages with 21 kg 600 grams of marijuana.

On the same day at 20:20 near Birinji Mahmudlu village, Fizuli region, two more persons crossed the border from Iran.

They also ignored the command to stop and tried to escape, but after fire from border guards, one trespasser was shot in the leg and detained.

After being treated, the intruder was taken to the Fizuli district hospital. In the course of investigative measures, the second offender was also detained with 6.4kg of methamphetamine and 1,000 tablets of the psychotropic substance "Gapaprel".

The investigation revealed that the detainees are Iranians Sheikhnia Ali Jamshid oglu and Alipoor Poya Gasham oglu, both born in 1989 in Parsabad, Islamic Republic of Iran.

Besides, on the night of January 6, a resident of Baku Hasanova Solmaz, born in 1992, was detained near Imamverdili village of Beylagan region. Her package included 14.5 kg of marijuana, 600 grams of opium, 1,300 ml of liquid methadone M-40, and 1,560 psychotropic pills.
