National Heroes in Azerbaijan Lack Status
Public Association "Families of National Heroes" held a hearing on the issue of status. Galiba Budagova, head of the organization said that individuals in this category have no status. She noted that a national hero is issued a star and a certificate, but there is no law that would officially confer benefits and status. Heroes and family members of dead heroes have repeatedly appealed to formal structures, but there has been no resolution of the problem. Speakers called the issue of determining the status ‘problem number one’. If this issue is settled, all the rest will be easier to solve. In this regard, other appeals will be prepared and sent to the formal structures.
Speakers noted that national heroes receive 600 manat, but there are no additional benefits in the form of vouchers to sanatoriums, flats, etc. In some cases, due to lack of status as a national hero, they are deprived of many rights. -05C04
