The National Broadcasting Council (NBC) presented to the court documents needed to stop broadcasting of the TV channel ANS. This was stated by the head of NBC Nushiravan Maharramli.
According to him, NBC operates within the framework of its powers, and the closure of the channel is fully consistent with the law.
For example, if a TV or radio in the course of a year is three times subjected to measures of liability, NBC has the authority to initiate its closure.
In this situation, NBC "is exercising its right" to stop ANS broadcasting, he said.
In addition, Maharramli said ANS does not pay a fine in the amount of 161 thousand AZN, which was imposed by the courts on the channel for violating the law.
On July 18 at 18.30 TV and radio ANS was suspended in connection with the information on the preparation of the interview with the preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom the Turkish authorities announced as a "terrorist." NBC accuses ANS of «propaganda of terrorism."
The next day, NBC announced that they would ask the court for a full withdrawal of the television license.
Despite the fact that the channel management recognized its "mistake" and asked the country's leadership to restore the broadcasting by July 22 - National Press Day, this did not happen. -06D-
