Orthodox religious and cultural center opens in Baku
Orthodox religious and cultural center of Baku and Azerbaijan diocese , built on the site of the Cathedral of the Holy Myrrhbearers opened in Baku. The ceremony was attended by the President Ilham Aliyev .
Cathedral of the Holy Myrrhbearers was built in 1907, and in the Soviet years it was used as a warehouse. In 2001, the church was reopened after its renovation.
The Orthodox religious and cultural center was built by the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev. The four-storey building, the construction of which began in 2012, has the space for various activities , including conferences and seminars, the necessary conditions for the functioning of the Sunday school for the purpose of church education.
There are separate rooms for various religious committees of the Diocese, canonical rites, catechesis , as well as for church media. There is also a library, and special rooms for guests. -06D –
